The law now states that anyone employed in a position in which contact with children or vulnerable adults takes place three times a month or more is now eligible to apply for an Enhanced CRB check. Enhanced CRB checks contain all criminal convictions, cautions and reprimands held on the Police National Computer and all non-conviction information on the applicant including Police Intelligence. Enhanced CRB checks also include checks of the two barred lists currently in operation, one for children and one for vulnerable adults.

Standard CRB checks contain all criminal convictions, cautions and reprimands held on the Police National Computer and are used for employees in certain positions of responsibility including positions regulated by the Financial Services Authority and the Security Industry Authority.
